Latvian Song Festivals have taken place in Riga already since 1873 (except the year of 1895 when the Fourth Latvian Song Festival took place in Jelgava), whereas Dance Festivals - since 1948. Thereby, one of the Riga 800th anniversary's main events will be Song and Dance Festival Riga 800. Latvian Song Festival is the only true movement for confirming national identity of our people.

Once in a hundred years, especially festive events are organised in honour of the city. We are all destined to experience them. We invite you to leave your mark in this festival, to participate in the creation of this event and be present in its activities.

Pre-festival activities of the Song and Dance Festival Riga 800 will take place from July 18 to 26. The main dance performance One Sun, One Land will take place on July 27 and 28 in Skonto stadium, whereas the main concert of the Song Festival - on July 29 on open-stage in Mezaparks.
