Women's choir Naiskuoro Posti- ja Telelaulajat was founded
in 1949 and is still continuing its activities. There are
about 25 singers in our choir and we practice once a week.
Choirīs repertoire consists of church music, folk songs, evergreens
and songs from musicals.
Mixed choir PT-Viihdelaulajat was founded three years ago. There
was earlier a menīs choir
in Helsinki, but it stopped its activities due to the lack
of tenors after itīs 50 years anniversary. The mixed choir
was born then in co-operation with the singers from the menīs
and womenīs choir. The repertoire of the mixed choir is mostly
entertaining. There are songs such as:
Granada
Falling in love with you
When I get older
Charmaine
The last tango of the evening
Raindrops keep fallinīon my head, etc.
Both choirs consist of amateur singers. The choirs have not
taken part in competitions or made any recordings. They sing,
because they love music and enjoy companionship.
Both choirs are conducted by Conductor Veikko Huuskonen, a
professional
musician. He arranges music for orchestras and choirs, as
well as composes
music himself. He has conducted the women's choir for 20 years.
